Oğuz Kaan Salıcı's 'list' statement with a 'they will be disappointed' note: CHP heads to Extraordinary Congress
As the countdown continues for the CHP's extraordinary congress on September 21, a notable statement has come from Oğuz Kaan Salıcı, on whom all eyes were turned.
The Republican People's Party (CHP) is heading to an Extraordinary Congress. The 2nd Extraordinary Congress will be held on Sunday, September 21, at the Yenimahalle Municipality Nazım Hikmet Culture Center.
The CHP's more than 1,300 registered delegates will hold separate votes of confidence regarding the Party Assembly (PM), consisting of 60 members including the chairman, and the 15-member High Disciplinary Board (YDK). Subsequently, the chairman and the full and substitute members of the PM and YDK will be elected.
SURPRISE 'LIST' STATEMENT FROM OĞUZ KAAN SALICI
Days before the Extraordinary Congress, a notable statement came from Oğuz Kaan Salıcı, who was rumored to be preparing a list representing the opposition within the CHP and whose candidacy was a subject of curiosity.
Making a statement on X, Salıcı said, "There will be no list preparation that I will lead or be a part of at the 22nd Extraordinary Congress of the Republican People's Party."
Stating, "This decision I have made is neither a surrender nor an acceptance. It is a will to protect our Party from personal ambitions and unnecessary tensions," Salıcı added, "Our party has been faced with a management crisis and made vulnerable to judicial interventions. Despite everything, I have full faith that we will overcome every trouble we encounter with the integrity of our Party and with determination."
Salıcı continued as follows:
"Those who rub their hands in anticipation of our party's division will be greatly disappointed. The Republican People's Party has the strength to cleanse itself of allegations of bribery and corruption. Our slogan of 'Clean politics, clean party, clean society' has not been erased from our walls. Our allegiance is to the history, values, tradition, and future of our Party."
YSK REJECTED THE OBJECTION
A CHP delegate took the request to cancel the 22nd Extraordinary Congress, scheduled for Sunday, September 21, to the Supreme Election Council (YSK) on the grounds of "complete illegality."
YSK Chairman Ahmet Yener announced that the application for the cancellation of the Republican People's Party's (CHP) 22nd Extraordinary Congress, which will be held on Sunday, has been rejected.
With this, there are no obstacles left for the congress to be held on September 21.
