The prosecutor's opinion on the merits has been announced in the trial where actor Ozan Güven is being tried on charges of assaulting his former partner, Deniz Bulutsuz, on June 13, 2020. During the hearing held at the Istanbul 58th Criminal Court of First Instance, the prosecution requested a prison sentence ranging from 3 years and 6 months to 11 years and 6 months for Güven on charges of 'intentional injury with a weapon' and 'deprivation of liberty.' DETAILS REGARDING THE ASSAULT INCIDENT
In the prosecutor's opinion, it was stated that the parties had dinner together on the day of the incident and argued about past relationships. It was reported that a fight broke out again later that night between the two, who had moved to Güven's house after the argument. The prosecution stated that Güven assaulted Bulutsuz with a lampshade and his hands, and prevented her from leaving the house by taking her mobile phone.
COURT GRANTS TIME TO THE PARTIES
During the hearing, while Deniz Bulutsuz's lawyer requested time to respond to the prosecutor's opinion, Ozan Güven's lawyers reiterated their previous defenses and requested their client's acquittal. The court granted time to the parties and adjourned the case to a later date.
WHAT HAD HAPPENED?
Actor Ozan Güven's former partner, Deniz Bulutsuz, had filed a criminal complaint with the prosecutor's office, stating that Güven had subjected her to violence. Two separate indictments were prepared regarding the incident upon the complaints of both parties. Upon Güven's complaint, a prison sentence of 4 months to 1 year was requested for Deniz Bulutsuz for the crime of 'simple assault.'
