One person loses life in workplace accident at Gayrettepe metro station
Metro Istanbul reported that one person lost their life as a result of a workplace accident that occurred at the Istanbul Gayrettepe metro station.
One person has lost their life due to an accident that occurred during maintenance work at the Gayrettepe station of the Yenikapı-Hacıosman Metro Line in Istanbul.
IDENTITY REVEALED
The identity of the worker who lost his life after becoming trapped when the escalator he was repairing at Gayrettepe suddenly started moving has been revealed. It was learned that the deceased worker was 31-year-old Buğrahan Bıyıklı, who worked as a technician for the contractor firm.
The incident took place in the evening hours at the M2 Yenikapı-Hacıosman Metro Line Gayrettepe station. Buğrahan Bıyıklı (31), an employee of the contractor firm performing maintenance on the escalators, became trapped between the stairs when they suddenly started moving. The trapped worker was extracted by teams arriving at the scene following reports from citizens in the area and was transported to the hospital by ambulance.
Bıyıklı lost his life despite all interventions at the hospital where he was taken. Bıyıklı's body was moved to the hospital morgue, and an investigation into the incident has been launched.
A statement regarding the matter was made on Metro Istanbul's official social media account, X.
