It has been announced that convicts and detainees will be granted open visitation rights for the Ramadan Feast. In a statement made by the General Directorate of Prisons and Detention Houses (CTE), it was noted that convicts and detainees in closed penal institutions are granted the right to open visitation during holidays and special occasions.
THOSE WHO CANNOT BENEFIT FROM OPEN VISITATION
The statement emphasized that the right to open visitation will not be granted to convicts and detainees whose disciplinary penalties have been finalized and are being executed. Individuals who have received disciplinary penalties of deprivation of visitor acceptance and placement in solitary confinement will not be able to benefit from the right to open visitation during this holiday.
VISITORS MUST PROVE RELATIONSHIP WITH DOCUMENTATION
While it was stated that each convict can benefit from the open visitation permit only once, it was expressed that individuals wishing to have a visit must prove their kinship status with official documents obtained from population directorates or consulates.
OPEN VISITATION DATES HAVE BEEN DETERMINED
Open visitations will be held in 173 penal institutions between March 16-22. However, these dates will vary in some institutions. Open visitations will be held between March 16-20 in closed penal institutions that are heavy penal centers and have a directorate organization, and between March 16-18 in closed penal institutions that do not have a directorate organization.
