In Istanbul's Üsküdar district, the period that began after the administration passed to the AKP following a controversial and scandalous process is drawing attention with suspicious 'messages' reflected on the streets.
Advertising billboards placed at strategic points in the district by the Üsküdar Municipality, which has been managed for some time by deputy Dündar Ziya Gültekin, have ignited a new debate.
The expressions on the billboards, particularly those placed in the Zeynepkamil area along routes heavily used by IETT buses, have been interpreted by the public as "messages supporting the opening process."
While no direct political slogan is used in the visuals, it is evident that the texts, prepared with a "play both sides" tactic, carry an underlying message clearly supporting the new opening process in the background.
OFFICIALS DID NOT KNOW WHAT TO SAY
Questions raised regarding these implications on the street billboards caught Üsküdar Municipality officials off guard. When asked about the connection between the messages on the billboards and the "opening process," it was noted that the officials could not provide a clear answer and gave evasive responses.
The officials, who initially faltered in the face of the questions, tried to brush off the situation after consulting among themselves. In an unofficial statement made regarding the matter, it was claimed that the billboards only carried a "message regarding the new era."
