Operation against 2 companies in fund investigation: Detention warrant issued for Deputy Minister's son-in-law İskender Balcı

Within the scope of the fund investigation, detention warrants were issued for 10 suspects serving in the management of Destek Faktoring and Özata Denizcilik. While some suspects have been taken into custody, it was reported that efforts are ongoing to apprehend those who have not yet been caught.

It was stated that 2 suspects were taken into custody in the Özata Denizcilik leg of the investigation, while 3 suspects are being sought. Among those sought is İskender Balcı, the son-in-law of Deputy Minister of Treasury and Finance Osman Çelik and the son of former BRSA Board Member Mustafa Balcı.

In the Destek Faktoring investigation, it was reported that Destek Investment Bank General Manager Özgür Akayoğlu, as well as Kerim Tosun, Nuray Elmastaş, and Azize Binnur Tosun, were taken into custody.

It was noted that efforts to apprehend Orhan Aksüt are continuing.

It was stated that Altuğ Kantarcı, who is linked to Özata Denizcilik Sanayi Ticaret A.Ş., is also among those taken into custody.

Before the investigation came to light, a change in the board of directors had taken place at Özata Denizcilik, and İskender Balcı's departure from the company's management had sparked public debate. Journalist Barış Pehlivan had also drawn attention to Balcı's resignation and family ties in a social media post, calling on Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek.
