Operation against cockfighting organizers: Hundreds of thousands of liras in fines
In the Ödemiş district of İzmir, gendarmerie teams conducted an operation at a location where it was determined that gambling was being conducted through cockfighting in a tent.
Following a tip-off that gambling was being conducted through cockfighting in a tent belonging to an individual identified as N.C. (65) in the Kaymakçı neighborhood of İzmir's Ödemiş district, an operation was carried out at the address.
During the operation, administrative fines totaling 79 thousand liras were imposed on 11 animal owners, and a total of 546 thousand liras in fines were imposed on 85 people who were gambling.

During the operation, it was determined that 11 roosters were being made to fight inside the tent.
District Agriculture Directorate teams imposed administrative sanctions totaling 79 thousand 376 TL on 11 animal owners for violating Article 14/A of the Animal Protection Law No. 5199, and a total of 546 thousand 125 TL in administrative fines on the other 85 people who were gambling.

The 11 roosters in question were handed over to the Ödemiş District Agriculture Directorate teams by the environmental protection unit. A judicial investigation has been initiated against the suspect identified as N.C. for the crime of 'providing a place for gambling'.
