Operation against FETÖ's secret structure within the Land Forces in 9 provinces
As part of an investigation conducted by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into the FETÖ/PDY armed terrorist organization, detention warrants were issued for 22 suspects in simultaneous operations across 9 provinces.
A new development has occurred in the investigations conducted by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office Terrorism Crimes Investigation Bureau into FETÖ/PDY. It was stated that the investigation is directed at the organization's structure within the Land Forces Command, referred to as "secret services."
Examinations revealed that payphone-operated landlines located in public businesses such as kiosks, grocery stores, and markets in various neighborhoods across Ankara were used. It was determined that the suspects used these lines to communicate and exchange information with the organization's civilian imams.
Detention warrants were issued for a total of 22 individuals assessed to have links and connections to the organization. It was reported that 5 of the suspects are active-duty officers (colonel, major, captain, first lieutenant), 5 are active-duty non-commissioned officers, 9 are previously dismissed or retired officers/non-commissioned officers, 1 is an active-duty public servant, and 2 are dismissed military students.
Simultaneous operations were launched in 9 provinces, centered in Ankara, starting from March 3, 2026, against the 22 suspects.
It was learned that 15 of the suspects have been apprehended and taken into custody. Efforts to apprehend 3 individuals are ongoing, while 4 others have been identified as being abroad. It was reported that the procedures for transferring the detained suspects to the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office are being carried out by teams from the Ankara Provincial Police Department's Counter-Terrorism Branch.
