Operation against PKK in Şırnak: 55 caves, bunkers, and shelters destroyed

The Gürz-18 operation was carried out against the terrorist organization PKK in the Cudi Mountain region of Şırnak.

Within the scope of the operation, 10 M79 anti-tank missile munitions, which are effective against aircraft and armored vehicles, were seized.

Furthermore, as a result of the operation, 55 caves, bunkers, and shelters belonging to the terrorist organization were destroyed.

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya provided the following information regarding the operation:

"10 M79 Heat-Seeking Anti-Tank Missile Munitions (This is the largest quantity of this ammunition seized in recent times)

17 PKM Machine Guns, 

1 12.7 mm Anti-Aircraft Gun,

2 RPG-7 Rocket Launchers,

1 Zagros Sniper Rifle,

1 Dragunov Sniper Rifle, 

1 AK-47 Infantry Rifle,

5 TM 62 M Anti-Tank Mines,

123 Rocket Launcher Munitions, 

600 Anti-Aircraft Munitions,

3 thousand 600 7.62 mm PKMS Machine Gun rounds,

5 thousand 700 Light Weapon rounds,

8 81mm Mortar rounds,

500 meters of safety fuse and

a large quantity of materials used in the construction of IEDs were seized."
