Operation against those selling earthquake aid in Kahramanmaraş: 4 people arrested, including a teacher
An operation was launched in the Türkoğlu district of Kahramanmaraş following allegations that aid sent to earthquake survivors at the Azerbaijan-Turkey Temporary Housing Center was being sold by staff. Eight people were detained in the operation, and items seized included containers, electronic goods, and unlicensed firearms.
Following reports that aid sent to earthquake survivors at the Azerbaijan-Turkey Temporary Housing Center, established in the Türkoğlu district of Kahramanmaraş during the earthquake period, was being sold by staff, teams from the District Police Department launched an investigation.
As part of the investigation, 8 suspects were detained, including 1 teacher who was the manager of the housing center and 4 staff members.
After their procedures at the police station, the suspects were referred to the courthouse; 4 of them were arrested, while 4 were released under judicial control conditions.
The Türkoğlu District Governorate also issued a written statement regarding the operation. The statement noted that a large number of items, including containers, were seized, and stated the following:
"Following reports that public property was being stolen and sold from the Azerbaijan-Turkey Temporary Housing Center, and as a result of coordinated work with the Provincial Police Department, operations initiated by the Türkoğlu Chief Public Prosecutor's Office resulted in the seizure of;
2 unlicensed pistols, 1 unlicensed shotgun, and ammunition for these weapons, as well as containers, electronic goods, food, and living supplies with an approximate value of 1.5 million TL.
Furthermore, 8 individuals were apprehended in the operations and judicial proceedings were initiated against them; 4 individuals were arrested, and 4 individuals were released under judicial control conditions."
