Operation into 'irregularities' at CHP-run Kemalpaşa Municipality: Detentions reported
In an operation targeting alleged irregularities at the CHP-run Kemalpaşa Municipality in İzmir, 5 suspects, including Deputy Mayor A.B., have been detained.
The Kemalpaşa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office launched an investigation following a tip-off regarding a Gülşen concert that was organized for the October 29 Republic Day celebrations last November but was subsequently canceled due to the terrorist attack in Ankara.
Following approximately 5 months of work within the scope of the investigation, the button was pressed for the operation in line with the evidence collected.
In the operation carried out by the Kemalpaşa District Police Department teams against the suspects, who are alleged to have 'caused damage to a public institution through fraudulent means in complicity to obtain unfair gain'; Deputy Mayor A.B., former Culture and Social Affairs Manager H.B. (who has been suspended from duty), municipal staff members S.K. and B.B., and organization company official S.P. were apprehended and detained. The suspects will be referred to the courthouse following their processing at the police station.
