Operation Mercek against arms smugglers in 68 provinces!

In the 4-day 'Mercek-15' operations targeting individuals carrying unlicensed weapons and arms smugglers across 68 provinces, a total of 750 weapons were seized, including 559 unlicensed pistols, 58 pistols converted from blank-firing guns, 14 long-barreled rifles, and 119 unlicensed hunting rifles.

Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya announced that legal action was also taken against 878 suspects.

Sharing the information on his X account, Yerlikaya reported the results of the 'Mercek' operations conducted from the date he took office on June 1, 2023, to March 28, 2024, as follows:

57 thousand 134 unlicensed pistols

15 thousand 76 hunting rifles

5 thousand 368 blank-firing pistols

A total of 79 thousand 235 weapons, including 1 thousand 657 long-barreled weapons, were seized.

Legal action was taken against 89 thousand 915 suspects.
