It was reported that tap water in some areas of Yalova turned murky due to infrastructure issues following two days of heavy rainfall. While this situation increased the demand for drinking water in the city, a complaint regarding the price of 5-liter water at a grocery store prompted the Ministry of Trade to take action.
According to the complaint, the same brand of 5-liter water, which is allegedly sold for 36 TL in other stores, was offered for sale at a price of 50 TL at one establishment. Following the report submitted via social media, teams from the Yalova Provincial Directorate of Trade conducted an inspection at the retail point in question.

MINISTRY ANNOUNCES INSPECTION RESULTS
Bekir Kaplan, Press and Public Relations Advisor to the Ministry of Trade, announced that the inspection was carried out on October 18, 2026. According to Kaplan's statement, the teams identified violations of the Price Tag Regulation on 4 products during the checks at the store and prepared the necessary reports.
Kaplan stated that documents regarding the purchase and sale prices of the 5-liter water were also requested from the company. The Ministry announced that if an unfair price increase is determined as a result of the investigation, the relevant documents will be forwarded to the Ministry.
Our inspections are being carried out with determination in order to protect the rights of our consumers and ensure fair price formation in the market.

In the Ministry's statement, it was emphasized that whether an unfair increase was made in the water price would become clear after the investigation is completed. It was noted that reports were prepared for the violations of the labeling legislation identified during the inspections.
