Orhan Gencebay's remarks on the Bolu fire disaster spark backlash: 'There may be negligence, but it is not our place to speak...'

The response given by Orhan Gencebay, one of the famous names of Arabesque music, to a question regarding why no official resigned following the fire disaster in Bolu Kartalkaya, where 79 people lost their lives, has sparked a major backlash on social media.

"IT IS NOT MALICIOUS"

According to the report by Magazin Burada, Gencebay gave the following response:

"Our hearts are burning; we are extremely saddened. It is an extremely painful event for our country… Our lives were lost, may God have mercy on them. It is not our place to speak on this matter; we do not know the inside story of the events. Those who govern know better. Regardless of which administration it is, they are all well-intentioned. They try to do what is necessary. There may be negligence, but it is certainly not malicious. Hopefully, what is necessary will be done so that everything will be better."

The response in question was met with great backlash from social media users.
