Örsan Öymen's assessment of the convention to 12punto: 'The chairman has opened up to the right. He and the headquarters are a major problem'

Örsan Öymen, one of the candidates for Chairman of the Republican People's Party (CHP), had withdrawn from the race. Speaking to Ercan Küçük from 12punto during the convention, Örsan Öymen said that Kılıçdaroğlu and Özgür Özel did not perform well.

Öymen spoke as follows:

"We have not withdrawn in favor of anyone. I made a statement on Twitter. If it were a democratic convention, a monopoly on signatures would not have been created. Everyone could have been a candidate. Therefore, everyone could have expressed their own views on the podium. All parties here, I am referring to both candidates, have not performed well."

When asked, "How will you continue your path from now on?", Öymen replied: "Time will tell. We will put aside intra-party discussions and focus on the elections. We will make our decision after the elections, taking the results into account."

Öymen also evaluated Kılıçdaroğlu's speech, in which he criticized the 'change' advocates, with the following words:

"The Chairman should look at himself first. If everyone except him is saying 'Change', that is a problematic situation. The speeches made by the Chairman are not correct speeches. For one thing, he said misleading things. He has very clearly opened up to the right. He is neither implementing policies that shift to the left, nor is he doing what is required for secularism. The real major problem is the Headquarters and himself. But are those who claim to be 'change' advocates able to present real change? That is also problematic. We find both sides problematic."
