Ortahisar District Mayor Ahmet Kaya explains why he removed Erdoğan's portrait
Trabzon Ortahisar Mayor Ahmet Kaya has made statements regarding why he removed the portrait of Erdoğan from his office.
Trabzon Ortahisar District Mayor Ahmet Kaya provided explanations regarding the removal of the portrait of President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan from the mayor's office.
Kaya stated the following:
"Mr. Erdoğan is the President, but he is also the AKP Chairman. And in his capacity as AKP Chairman, he engaged in politics against us in this local election. He campaigned for the AKP candidate, and his picture was hung everywhere, even on billboards.
Mr. Erdoğan is a political figure. I said that I would not allow politics to enter this institution. Just as I do not hang the picture of my own party leader, it is not appropriate for the picture of the AKP Chairman to be there either."
