Osman Gökçek’s statement on the investigation: 'I am in favor of the allegations being investigated before the judiciary'

In a statement to the public, Osman Gökçek stated that he is pleased that the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation due to the allegations recently brought up regarding his father and his family.

Expressing that he respects any decision that will be made before the judiciary, Gökçek emphasized that the investigation process is important in terms of revealing the truth of the allegations.

In his statement, Gökçek used the words, “Only in this way will it be revealed who is telling the truth and which allegations reflect the reality.”

He also addressed Mansur Yavaş’s criminal complaint

The AKP MP Gökçek also said that he is pleased that Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş has filed a criminal complaint against him.

Arguing that he has been subjected to various accusations by Mansur Yavaş in the public eye, including during periods when he did not have parliamentary immunity, Gökçek stated that he finds it “important and valuable” that these allegations will now be handled before the judiciary.

Gökçek also stated that if it is determined that Yavaş is justified in his allegations, he will respect the decision of justice to the end.

Statement on the lawsuit against Murat Ağırel

Osman Gökçek also made statements regarding journalist Murat Ağırel. Arguing that all the lawsuits Ağırel has filed against him to date have resulted against him, Gökçek said that, in contrast, the lawsuits he has filed against Ağırel are still ongoing.

Gökçek stated that if a decision is made against Ağırel in the ongoing lawsuits, the “respect and maturity” he claims to have shown should also be expected from the other party.

Stating that he has filed numerous criminal complaints against Mansur Yavaş with the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, Osman Gökçek expressed that he expects the same approach to be displayed if a decision is made against Yavaş in any of these processes.

Reminding that he is an AKP MP, Gökçek argued that the concept of justice, which is also included in his party's name, is a fundamental value.

“Justice should not change according to a political party, office, financial power, or a person's position,” said Gökçek, emphasizing that the law should be applied equally to everyone.

Giving a clear message regarding the judicial process at the end of his statement, Osman Gökçek stated that no one should run away from being tried.
