Owner of mine arrested
The owner of a private coal mine in the Kilimli district of Zonguldak, where 2 workers died and 1 was injured, has been arrested.
The processing of mine owner H.B. at the gendarmerie has been completed following his detention in connection with the collapse in the Gelik township, which resulted in the deaths of workers Veysel Oruçoğlu and Ziya Kiret and left İsmet Kabuk injured.
The suspect was taken to the courthouse after undergoing a medical examination. Following his interrogation by the prosecutor's office, he was brought before the on-duty criminal judgeship of peace and arrested.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Three workers were trapped in a collapse that occurred yesterday at a mine operated by a private company in the Gelik township. Rescue teams began operations and managed to extract worker Kabuk from the site with injuries.
As a result of the teams' 7-hour efforts, the lifeless body of worker Oruçoğlu was reached, and the lifeless body of worker Kiret, who had been trapped in the collapse, was recovered from the mine approximately 9 hours later.
Kabuk was discharged from Zonguldak Atatürk State Hospital after receiving treatment.
