Özdağ: AKP continues to pursue Davutoğlu's policy: 'Why did we give so many martyrs'

Stating that the agreement the AKP made with Iraq is a Davutoğlu policy, Özdağ said that traces of Davutoğlu can be seen in the statements of Foreign Minister Fidan and Minister of National Defense Güler.

Zafer Party Chairman Özdağ was a guest on the Gündem Özel program on Halk TV. Commenting on the agreements the AKP made with Iraq during the program, Özdağ made noteworthy assessments.

Highlights from Özdağ's statements are as follows:

"IT COULD BE AN EVACUATION OPERATION"

"There is no clear indication as to why the agreement with Iraq was made. This agreement has only one logic. It is not a logic that can be voiced. It is not a logic that can be stated on a program. I know there are people who are suspicious of this. I hope it is not so. This could be an evacuation operation. It would be a reversal of the Republic's policies."

"WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO OPERATION CLAW"

"The other agreement signed with Iraq is of extraordinary importance. With the agreement, the withdrawal of troops from Iraq is accepted. Then what will happen to Operation Claw? We were controlling a large region in northern Iraq. We gave many martyrs there. I am asking, is this place being evacuated?"

"HE SAYS LET'S MEET WITH ASSAD"

"The text of the agreement was published by an Iraq-based website. It was published despite a clause stating that the secret parts and annexes of this agreement should not be published. On the other hand, the Minister of National Defense and President Erdoğan say, 'Let's meet with Assad.' First, the Foreign Minister refers to United Nations resolutions. The Minister of National Defense sets conditions for the Assad administration, saying a new constitution will be made, elections will be held, and border security will be ensured. I ask: Has border security been ensured in Iraq? You have accepted withdrawing from Iraq."

"DAVUTOĞLU'S IDEAS CONFRONT US"

"Look, while the President is calling for a meeting with Assad, this message from the Minister of National Defense and the Foreign Minister means we are not talking to Damascus. What I see is this: The events of the last month and the Foreign Minister's statement are Davutoğlu's view. We hear the same view from the Minister of National Defense and the Foreign Minister. If Davutoğlu is still the prime minister, let us know. Whenever Damascus starts talking to the Turkish side, Davutoğlu's ideas confront us."
