Özer Aci, father of Oğuz Murat Aci, lashes out at his daughter-in-law: 'The issue isn't her taking money...'

Şükriye Aci, the wife of Oğuz Murat Aci, who was killed after being struck by 17-year-old Timur Cihantimur in Istanbul's Eyüpsultan district, has withdrawn her complaint against four suspects, including Timur Cihantimur's mother, Eylem Tok, and father, Bülent Cihantimur, who fled to the United States. Speaking to the İhlas News Agency about the matter, father Özer Aci stated that his daughter-in-law was not answering his calls and that he learned about the process through the media.

In his statement, Özer Aci said, "The initial reports made it seem as if we, as a family, had withdrawn. I want to state this clearly: I have not withdrawn from the case. Under our laws, his son and daughter-in-law are his legal heirs. In this context, his wife and child have withdrawn from the case. I state this with regret. Şükriye Aci has stated that she has waived her financial and moral rights. I ask her, through you, why she kept this move, which she made for her child, hidden from me. She claimed that I, along with my lawyer, was going to defraud my daughter-in-law or my grandchild. Now, hasn't she defrauded her own grandchild's grandfather? She teamed up with her lawyer. Let her drown in that money. Everyone who is alive will see how long it lasts and what happens."

Stating that his grandchild will say 'shame on you' to his mother when he reaches his 20s, Aci said the following:

"She doesn't answer my calls. Because she didn't, I learned about it through the press today. I am saddened. I suspected she might do something like this. In life, anything a person does behind the backs of their circle, their family, and their state is wrong. As a family, even if she is looking after my grandchild because he is young, the fact that she did this while hiding it—carrying my surname—is entirely wrong.

Right now, I should be defending her with peace of mind, but there is nothing to defend. One day, when she tells her child about this move she made for him, when she says, 'My dear, I sold your father's blood and kept you alive this way,' will that child congratulate his mother, or will he stand before her with mercy and conscience and say, 'Shame on you, mother'?

I am 61 years old. I have never seen anyone go hungry or homeless so far. Those who make a small effort and work earn money with honor. What is money? She claims she is a victim. Did she pay rent, electricity, water, or natural gas bills during her marriage? What did she do with the life insurance money of my son that she received?"

"I DON'T KNOW FOR HOW MUCH SHE SOLD MY SON'S BLOOD"

Saying that he does not know how much money his daughter-in-law received, Aci said, "I don't know how much she was paid, how much money she took, or for how much she sold my son's blood. But the issue is not her taking money; it is the lawyers taking money through her. She was deceived by inexperienced lawyers. I will not take any action against Şükriye Hanım. However, I will take action regarding my child and my grandchild, and I will continue to do so. I will look after them. Even though she doesn't show them, hides them, and doesn't answer my calls, there are only a few years left. That child will also have a phone. I believe he will definitely answer his grandfather's phone. He has my blood in him."

Stating that no offer was made to him during this process, Aci said, "Şükriye Hanım was never a daughter to me. If she were, she wouldn't have done this. She claimed that I was going to defraud my daughter-in-law together with my lawyer. Well, what did she do? She teamed up with her lawyer and defrauded me. She conducted business behind my back. No clear offer was made to me. May not a single morsel from those people pass through my throat. I have expressed this every time. I said I would not let them eat the rights of a child who was left an orphan at 1.5 years old. I stand by my word. But Şükriye Hanım acted in a way that she thought she should solve it herself, not me. It is her own choice. From now on, if she doesn't come to the trial and the criminals get lighter sentences, let her live with that burden. Let her drown in that money. Let's see what that money will do for her."

Saying that he will start making the issue public starting tomorrow, Aci said, "There are thousands of conscientious, merciful people in the public who share my pain as their own. I will inform the public conscience correctly. I haven't said anything about it until today. As of tomorrow morning, I will tell the truth through you. I will explain over and over again that I have not withdrawn from my case. This is the first thing I will do."
