Özgür Özel: Bahçeli and the MHP are responsible for whatever happens to the Ateş family

Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel made a statement regarding the attack on Sinan Ateş's sister, Selma Ateş, during the Sinan Ateş trial. 

In a statement posted on his X social media account, Özel said, "As I stated yesterday, Devlet Bahçeli, who delivered the most shameful speech of his political life, and the Nationalist Movement Party are responsible for every incident that may happen to the Ateş family from now on."

Özgür Özel's statement is as follows: 

"I condemn the attack on Sinan Ateş's sister, Selma Ateş, in Sincan today.

This attack is undoubtedly linked to the speech delivered yesterday by the chairman of a political party, in which he openly targeted individuals.

As I stated yesterday, Devlet Bahçeli, who delivered the most shameful speech of his political life, and the Nationalist Movement Party are responsible for every incident that may happen to the Ateş family from now on.

I condemn a political party for resorting to heavy threats and insults that escalate into physical attacks just to ensure that the veil of secrecy over a murder in the heart of Ankara is not lifted.

Despite this climate that has been created, the truth will emerge sooner or later; this assassination will be brought to light, and the instigators will face their punishment."
