Özgür Özel's first reaction to the arrest of Onursal Adıgüzel: 'We will resist this coup to the end'

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel made a statement regarding the arrest warrant issued for Ataşehir Mayor Onursal Adıgüzel.

In his assessment on his social media account, Özel stated, "We will resist this coup to the end! The latest target of the March 19 coup plotters was our Ataşehir Mayor Onursal Adıgüzel and our colleagues. A mayor elected with 56 percent of the vote was arrested without any concrete evidence, based on the baseless statements of two slanderers."

Directing criticism at the investigation process, Özel said, "Because they could not find a single piece of evidence, they created an 'organization chart' from the municipal organizational chart." In his statement, he included the words, "They slandered municipal employees as members of an organization and the elected mayor as the head of an organization. This much lawlessness, this much injustice is enough. Those who do this do not care about this state or this nation. Every day, with a new operation, they steal from the welfare and peace of 86 million people."

In the continuation of his statement, Özel said, "They do not care about peace, law, the economy, or democracy. Their only concern is the seats they are clinging to! This system that has been established is the dark order of the AK Party. No matter what they do, we will not stop until we change this order!"
