Özgür Özel: Murat Karayalçın will take our party to congress within 40 days

Özel visited the CHP Bilecik Provincial Headquarters as part of his Bilecik program and met with party members. Özel stated, "Due to a court decision regarding an election in 2023, they are coming in 2025 to dismiss the elected provincial administration.

It is unheard of. Furthermore, even worse, they are dismissing the women's branches.

Yours were also dismissed... And here is the thing, all the women here had united and elected Dilek Acalık, right, all the women? The men in Ankara are telling the women in Bilecik: 'You don't know, we do not accept who you elected, the one we designate will govern,'" he said. 

Özel said the following regarding the roadmap:

“We are now seeking our rights in the courts. We submitted the signatures, but no action was taken. Now, let me say this from Bilecik, perhaps it will be heard from here. You know, they say, 'We collected our signatures, brought them, and submitted them.' 1,040 of the delegates at that time said: 'Come on, let's hold this election as soon as possible.' No, we won't. In fact, 500 of the delegates who voted for Mr. Kemal at that time also signed, saying, 'Come on, let's do it again.' They are not processing these now. We are going to court to request that this convention be held within 40 days and we are requesting a call committee. They say: 'Oh, you don't want us.' Damn right, we don't want you. How can you govern if you haven't been elected? The call committee will arrive within 40 days, make an election decision, and take us to congress.

Who are we proposing as the chair of the call committee? Who are we proposing? We are proposing Murat Karayalçın, our former chairman. He accepted, thank goodness. We want the court to appoint Mr. Murat Karayalçın to safely lead the party to congress. If they accept, a call committee chaired by Mr. Karayalçın will take our party to congress within 40 days. If the courts do not accept this, if they play games, then our provincial chairmen are coming to Ankara tomorrow, and we will talk to them.

Our Party Assembly is meeting on Wednesday, we will talk to them. We will talk to our Central Executive Board. Finally, we will make a decision on what we will do next.

Regarding the operation conducted against the Kocaeli Municipality, Özel said, "All those involved in today's file have been investigated before, and decisions of 'no need for prosecution' were made, stating 'there is no criminal element here.' But as you know, there is a new method of trial.

They take all the files, then pressure everyone, and try to create something out of nothing. We are following the process in Kocaeli and the process in İzmit carefully. They took Mayor Fatma to the Vatan Security Directorate in Istanbul. Our lawyer friends are by her side there. We are following it carefully and we stand by our mayors. They are trying to invent crimes by repeatedly opening files that have already been examined and pressuring people," he said.
