Özgür Özel's 'Doğuş Group' response to Fatih Altaylı! 'If you don't go bankrupt, I'll be offended...'
CHP leader Özgür Özel responded to journalist Fatih Altaylı, who criticized the inclusion of the Doğuş Group on a boycott list. Attacking Altaylı without naming him, Özel stated, "Sir, 'The Doğuş Group is actually not far from you.' Look, look, look. 'The Doğuş Group is actually not far from you, Şahin. But what can they do, they are under pressure, they are very afraid. And if this happens, they might go bankrupt.' Those who earn money from us and cozy up to the palace... If you don't go bankrupt, I'll be offended; if you don't go bankrupt, I'll be offended."
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu's detention and subsequent arrest led Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel to announce a boycott list, which included the Doğuş Group.
Journalist Fatih Altaylı had reacted to the Doğuş Group's inclusion on the boycott list during a broadcast on his YouTube channel.
"THEY ARE BANKRUPTING THESE GUYS"
Stating that the Doğuş Group existed even before the AKP, Altaylı said, "It would probably exist even if the AK Party weren't there. But the Doğuş Group is not someone who benefits from this. Businessmen have also bowed down in fear. They have nothing they can do. They are bankrupting these guys. They are creating new groups and collapsing on top of the old ones."
"THEY ARE FORCED TO, THEY GO OUT OF FEAR"
Citing Çiğdem Simavi as an example, Altaylı said, "Çiğdem Simavi, the queen mother of the Koç Group. She had to go and pose at Espressolab. Do you think she did it for pleasure? I wonder if Ms. Çiğdem has ever gone there in her life. They are forced to, they go out of fear. Do you think the Doğuş Group is very happy about getting hit by the government's stick? You have billions of dollars, you are not free, are you very happy? No... But what can they do, they are afraid. They are jumping on top of them."
ÖZEL ATTACKS ALTAYLI WITHOUT NAMING HIM
CHP Chairman Özgür Özel reacted harshly to Fatih Altaylı's assessment, using the words, "Someone has come out and said, 'The Doğuş Group is actually not far from you; what can they do, they are under pressure, they are afraid, they might go bankrupt.'"
Özgür Özel made the following remarks in his speech in Şişli:
"Sir, 'The Doğuş Group is actually not far from you.' Look, look, look. 'The Doğuş Group is actually not far from you, Şahin. But what can they do, they are under pressure, they are very afraid. And if this happens, they might go bankrupt.' Those who earn money from us and cozy up to the palace... If you don't go bankrupt, I'll be offended; if you don't go bankrupt, I'll be offended. You will grow in the country founded by Atatürk, using the opportunities of this country, you will earn money from us, 1 million 200 thousand people will gather in the square in the world's most important metropolis in the middle of the night, and you will not see that square.
2 million 200 thousand people will hold a rally, and you will not broadcast that news, that rally live. The country's leading party will hold a convention, and you will not broadcast it. 'We are also Atatürkists.' To hell with an Atatürkist like you. If you don't go bankrupt, I'll be offended." Özel added, "Someone has come out and said, 'The Doğuş Group is actually not far from you; what can they do, they are under pressure, they are afraid, they might go bankrupt.' Those who take money from us and cozy up to the palace, if you don't go bankrupt, I'll be offended! If you don't go bankrupt, I'll be offended!"
