Özgür Özel's comments on Çerçioğlu: 'He changes parties, the company's shares rise on the stock market'

Kırşehir became the new destination for the 'Defending the National Will' rallies, which began following the March 19 operations. The Kırşehir Rally, the 46th since March, was held at Cacabey Square.

Presidential candidate and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, who has been detained at Marmara Prison in Silivri for 150 days without an indictment being prepared, had called out to citizens for the rally with the words, "After this darkness, the sun will rise, and we will look to the future with abundance, prosperity, brotherhood, and hope."

The highlights from Özel's speech are as follows:

ÖZEL TO THE PEOPLE OF KIRŞEHİR: "I AM GRATEFUL TO YOU"

"Let's refresh our memories and know where we are. This is Kırşehir. This is a city that was punished, turned into a district, and attached to another province in the 1954 elections when Osman Bölükbaşı won all four parliamentary seats against the government, and whose will was challenged. But Kırşehir has shown all of Turkey that the will belongs to the nation, and whatever the nation says, that is what happens. When we won Kırşehir in 2019, everyone was surprised. Yet, we were no strangers to Kırşehir, and Kırşehir was no stranger to us. We won here in 1973, 1977, and 1989. Whatever has touched the city and left a mark in Kırşehir is the work of the Republican People's Party mayors in Kırşehir. But let us say this: regardless of which party they are from, right? May God be pleased with all those who were elected by the votes of this nation, by your votes, who laid a stone upon a stone for Kırşehir, and who put effort into Kırşehir, regardless of their politics. Then, in 2019, we entrusted our Mayor Selahattin to you with the right candidate, a son of Kırşehir, who is one of you with his stance, his love, and his dialect. He took office with 44 percent. He worked like a bee for 5 years, disregarded his health, struggled with illness on one hand, but worked for you on the other. This term, you elected him with a record 53 percent of the vote. I am grateful to you, I am grateful to my mayor. Of course, I thank my dear brother and colleague Şeref Baran Genç, who took the initiative, accepted the duty, and stood up for the party when it needed to stand in unity and solidarity behind the mayor during his most difficult time. I thank the hardworking Metin İlhan, with whom I worked shoulder to shoulder in Parliament."

HE ADDRESSED THE GOVERNMENT: "THEY COULDN'T EVEN LAST 47 DAYS"

"We win, we lose, but we have transitioned from a system coming from sultanate to a Republic. We said 'national will.' We said 'sovereignty belongs unconditionally to the nation.' That is when whatever the nation says, that is what happens. We could not be the first party in Turkey for 47 years. We did not blame others. We did not turn to other paths; we did not hope for help from coups or memorandums. Whenever they attempted a coup even against this government, we said, 'Whatever the ballot box says, that is what happens. There is no opportunism; we are against the coup and behind those elected by the nation.' After 47 years, thanks to you, thanks to our nation, and thanks to your appreciation, our 47-year longing ended on March 31. Just like the day it was founded, today the Republican People's Party has become Turkey's first party. But unfortunately, the patience and belief in democracy that we showed for 47 years, some were going to show for 47 months. There were 47 months until the presidential election calendar; let alone 47 months, they couldn't even last 47 days. Because they saw democracy as a train or a tram to be boarded when it suited them and to be gotten off when it didn't. They attempted a coup against the one elected by the nation, the one whose letter you listened to a moment ago, who won Istanbul 3 times in a row, and who, if you approve, will be the next President of Turkey, Ekrem İmamoğlu." 

HE ADDRESSED AKP YOUTH: "TAKE THE BALL INTO YOUR OWN HANDS"

“Let me address Mr. Tayyip from here; we are in Kırşehir, in the middle of Anatolia. We are in the middle of summer. A huge square is roaring ‘resign’. After 23 years, many elections have been won. These squares were filled for you. This city has embraced you when the day came, but now this city has made a different choice. Istanbul has made a different choice, Turkey has made a different choice. While you could have gone down in history as someone who remained in power for years, this is the end of going down as a coup plotter, as someone who stubbornly opposed the nation, and as the head of a coup at the end of a political life. The square is roaring ‘resign, resign’.” 

From here, from Kırşehir, I address the AK Party members in Kırşehir, the AK Youth of Kırşehir, and the youth branches of the AK Party in Turkey. Politics is being compared to football in a terrible way. For years, we played ball with your Chairman, your leader. He won. We respected that. He managed it, and you were in that party. We won the last match by a large margin years later. Every time you won, while you were enjoying it, this time we won. Your leader, your Chairman, has taken the ball, tucked it under his arm, and is heading home. You ask, and he says, ‘I lost, I’m going to deflate the ball.’ You ask, and he says, ‘There is no more match,’ he says, ‘I’ve closed the field.’ This is both a shame he has committed himself, but it is also a lack of confidence in the AK Party’s youth branches and the politicians in the AK Party. Say this, say ‘Leader,’ say ‘My Chairman,’ say, ‘It can happen, you lost, you got old, you got tired. But don’t deflate the ball, give it to us, we will take the field.’ AK Party youth, maybe you will lose this election. Maybe you will lose a few more elections after this. But you will not go down in history as those who played when they won, and took the ball and ran away or deflated it when they lost. Do not make Turkey experience this shame. Are you up for it? Come face us. If you are going to go down in history as the party of cowards, the party of the sore losers, the party of spoilers, then follow your leader. If you are really going to do politics, take the ball from his hands and come to the field. I challenge you. Let the nation decide who will win.”

HE DESCRIBED THE CHP'S SERVICES TO KIRŞEHİR

“Dear people of Kırşehir, in your presence, I would like to thank my mayor once again from the bottom of my heart. I took a look; merit deserves praise, but I will not just praise. While all of Turkey is watching on live broadcast from here, and the top of the opposite bus is full of press workers, we saw and appreciated that Mayor Selahattin has laid 350 thousand tons of asphalt in 6.5 years, covered 800 thousand square meters of ground, renewed exactly 29 thousand meters of asbestos pipes, laid 18 thousand 500 meters of rainwater lines, almost solved Kırşehir’s water problem with four giant new wells, created 300 thousand square meters of green space with 39 new parks, hosted the disabled in 3 different facilities that are worthy of praise and truly commendable, brought four condolence and culture houses to Kırşehir, and neutered 3 thousand stray animals and had 800 of them adopted. We applaud him wholeheartedly.”

ÖZEL DREW ATTENTION TO UNEMPLOYED YOUTH AND THE PROBLEMS OF FARMERS

“Now let’s come to the unresolved problems of Kırşehir. Problems that would be solved if they were in the hands of the municipality, but which the central government has not solved, and which the Republican People’s Party will hopefully solve quickly. The biggest problem is unemployment. It is the same in Turkey, but there are over 20 thousand unemployed young people in Kırşehir. By the narrowest definition, by the TUIK definition, unemployment in Turkey is 8.7 percent. In Kırşehir, it is 9.2 percent. Broad unemployment is at a historic peak, at 33 percent. Unfortunately, the number of unemployed in Turkey is 13.5 million, while the total number of unemployed in the 27 countries of the European Union is 13 million. When we say ‘Let’s join the European Union,’ when we say ‘Let’s turn a new page in Turkey,’ this is why we say it. In Europe, when the rate of ‘NEET’ youth—those not in education, employment, or training—rises to 6 percent, Europeans don’t know what to do. They get uncomfortable. This figure has reached 35 percent in Turkey. That is why we promise all our youth here. This government will change. A Turkey without bans, a Europe without visas will come.”

“FARMERS AND LIVESTOCK BREEDERS ARE WAITING FOR SUPPORT”

“Kırşehir’s livelihood is in agriculture and animal husbandry. Production costs have increased. The farmer was first hit by frost, then by drought. The losses from the frost have not yet been covered. They are stubbornly not being covered. Due to the drought, harvesting could not be done for lentils and chickpeas. There are huge losses in wheat and barley. As such, the city’s economy is in a miserable state and we are facing a very big risk. The average age of the farmer has reached 58. When Erdoğan came to power, the average farmer age was 35. Today it is 58. Two out of every three young people engaged in farming say, ‘If I find a job with a minimum wage next year, I will quit farming.’ At a time when the importance of agriculture after the pandemic, and the importance of being a self-sufficient agricultural country has been revealed so clearly, the fact that our farmers are aging so much and the youth are so resentful of the land is the biggest danger ahead of us. Unfortunately, everyone in this country defines survival in their own way. By God, if the survival issue is the arrival of the world’s great powers, an invasion, or an occupation, we saw that 100 years ago and we showed what we would do when there was a survival problem, with Turks, Kurds, Laz, Circassians, Alevis, and Sunnis. Thank God, we would show it again. But the real survival issue is not foreign countries dreaming in Turkey; the real survival issue is the youth of this country dreaming in other countries of the world. For this, there is a need for a new Republican breakthrough, a second enlightenment revolution, great industrialization, modernization, and development that will make the youth of this country, the youth of Kırşehir in Kırşehir, in Turkey; the youth of Turkey in Turkey, and all the youth of the world dream in Turkey. The party that will do this, 100 years later, is again the Republican People’s Party. From here, we once again underline that compensation payments per decare should be made to farmers as soon as possible, that interest on bank debts should be erased, that the principal should be divided into interest-free installments, and that interest-free, long-term loans should be given to farmers so they can plant and harvest again. In addition, in Kırşehir, Ardahan, Kars, Van, Erzurum, Erzincan… there is a major foot-and-mouth disease problem in animal husbandry in Turkey this year. This issue is one of the issues that hurts Kırşehir the most. Animals are either dying or struggling to survive. Vaccination has been ineffective and insufficient. We are facing a 4 billion dollar loss in meat and milk production. The dead animals need to be identified. Per-animal support needs to be provided. This disease must be fought effectively, and the regions hit by foot-and-mouth disease, especially Kırşehir and the cities I just mentioned, must be declared disaster zones. I am addressing Erdoğan from here. You cannot look down from above, sit in ivory towers, see people like ants, and remain silent while they are being crushed. The ant has a brother. Its name is the Republican People’s Party. Furthermore, we express once again from here this reaction of Kırşehir, as it is in the last ranks in the Köydes budget. The problems experienced in roads and drinking water, and the problems of the villages must be solved quickly. The Kırşehir-Çiçekdağı dual carriageway must be completed, the high-speed train must arrive as soon as possible, and the Organized Industrial Zone must progress rapidly.” 

"THE GOVERNMENT HAS LEFT PEOPLE DESTITUTE, WE WILL PROTECT PUBLIC SERVANTS"

"First of all, he rushed off. Do you know who this person is? When we were all locked in our homes during the pandemic, wondering, 'Oh no, what will happen? Will we all die one by one?', there were healthcare workers who risked their own lives to fight for all of us. Mr. Tayyip said, 'Your rights cannot be repaid.' He truly didn't repay their rights; he kept his word. Let us give a heartfelt round of applause to all the healthcare workers across Turkey. Then, the police cleared the way for him. My friends, when it's a holiday, the police work. When there is a curfew, the police work. At a match, the police work. At a rally, the police work. The police work for everything. But the only thing that doesn't work is their overtime pay. When it comes to raises, they forget the police. From so many professions; teachers, economics graduates, sports academy graduates, they are all children of this nation. When the day comes, they pit the youth against the police. Both sides are the apple of our eye. Let us give a heartfelt round of applause to our police. We feel heartfelt gratitude to the police, the military, the gendarmerie, the prison guards, and everyone performing public service in this country. This government came and left you all destitute. It is our duty to protect you all. We promise you all."

"AN AK PARTY DEPUTY IS NOW PESTERING KIRŞEHİR"

"Now, Kırşehir has another problem. It was voiced from below as well. My Mayor both came and explained it the other day, and I called him today, and we talked again. There is a major problem here. They have surrounded it on all four sides with mines. Koza Gold is here, Cengiz is here, Rönesans is here. Mashallah, mashallah... These '40 Thieves' known as the Quintet Gang really have a great reputation in Kırşehir. People go crazy when they hear your name, what have you done? Now they have surrounded everything. And then there were our miners from Soma. They offer two minimum wages, they count overtime towards that. They count every right towards that. They are leaving the children destitute. They walked barefoot all the way to Ankara, you saw it, didn't you? They went; they slept on the ground, they slept in parks. There was a Fernas that didn't give them their rights, Fernas. What is it? Ferhat Nasıroğlu, an AK Party Deputy. He is now pestering Kırşehir. Now, this Fernas and Demir Export have formed a partnership. They have come to Kırşehir. The Mayor and the Provincial Chair, the Deputy, all voiced these problems. But it is very important to say it once more from here, to announce it to the Turkey you know. Now, they are going to search for gold in an area the size of 8,000 football fields. The EIA process is ongoing. 37 million tons of excavation per year, 1.5 million truck trips, 552 explosions per year... How much was the total explosive, Mr. Mayor, you said today? 7 million tons of explosives... They are going to detonate them right next to Kırşehir. Of course, 99 percent of this land is pasture land for 17 years, and 2,000 families are engaged in animal husbandry. '2,000 families are doing animal husbandry, they have no mercy,' says the Mayor. The Mayor explained it so much that I started talking like the people of Kırşehir. Now, against this, Lake Seyfe has already dried up, there will be no hope for revival. The birds coming to the lake will not find the lake and will go and land in the artificial ponds, the waste ponds they will build there. Migratory birds will also be harmed. When that happens, we are the ones who stand by nature, by humans, by wolves, by birds, by the environment, and ultimately, we are the ones sitting on top of this gold. In the future, you know, the state's share is 2 percent. With a chart, on average 15 percent of the gold stays here, 85 percent goes abroad. Therefore, with these laws passed during the AK Party era, instead of extracting this gold with this technology, Kırşehir should sit on it, and when the day comes, when there is a need with high technology, our grandchildren will use this gold. We will continue to protect Kırşehir's water, its wolves, its birds, its people; the health of you all to the end. Congratulations to those who stand in the middle of summer in Kırşehir, in the middle of the evening, shoulder to shoulder, filling this huge square, and doing this beautiful act. "WE ARE FACING THE BIGGEST SCANDAL IN HISTORY"

"Do you know why the youth are angry? We are facing the biggest scandal in history. In this square, there are young people with tons of diplomas who are unemployed. In all of your families, there are these children nearby. First, they had the questions stolen repeatedly by the FETÖ members. They had the KPSS cancelled in 2010. This year, oh, they are bright children of 14 years old. 14 years old. They mixed the witnesses into the LGS exam they took. Then, to distance himself from this disgrace, Mr. Tayyip said, 'Oh, you insulted the Imam Hatips.' Oh, it's not about insulting the Imam Hatips, you have darkened the future of the Imam Hatips. There are over 1 million young people. They are all our children. But he did something in such a way that it was as if all the Imam Hatips had their questions stolen and given to those children, let's say the child of an AK Party member, even if he worked and succeeded on his own, he remained under suspicion. You already did the main evil to them. And then you stand there and do Imam Hatip literature. In Turkey, the sides are not Imam Hatip graduates versus non-graduates, in Turkey, the sides are not, let's say, AK Party members versus CHP members, you separated the sides in Turkey like this, you separated them like this: The sides of the 40 Thieves, the sides of 40 million people. On one side is the dark order of the AK Party, on one side are the children of ministers who have everything they want, one hand in oil and one in honey, on the other side are the children of the homeland who carry them on their backs. I promise you, I promise you. The dark order of the AK Party will end. In this country, there will be justice in the courts, justice in taxes, justice in agriculture, and justice in livelihood. There will be true equality in this country, the short stick will take its right from the long stick, this square will take its right from the 'Long Man' (Erdoğan), the children of the homeland will take their rights from the children of the ministers. I promise. In the end, they are blaming each other, and the Information Technologies Authority had the signatures stolen, had them approved, so there was no need to steal questions. They stole the whole system, they wrote the diploma directly for whoever wanted it. Without going to school, without entering the university gate, without breaking a sweat, without putting in the effort, they started to eat without working. Shame on those who print diplomas for their cronies while the diploma-holding children of this nation wander unemployed. Tayyip Erdoğan is protecting those who eat the rights of others in this country. By favoring those who commit injustice, those who distribute diplomas through bribery, and those who rise with those diplomas, he is protecting them and upholding the dark order. We will overthrow the dark order of the AK Party, we will overthrow it. This Erdoğan had Ekrem İmamoğlu's diploma cancelled just because he would be a rival to him and beat him in the election, now that he is attacking that diploma, they are asking about Erdoğan's diploma. They say, 'The diploma-less Erdoğan'... youth, are we ready to send the diploma-less one in the first election and bring the one whose diploma they took away and make him president? Are we ready? Now he is watching you from Silivri." 

REACTION TO ÇERÇİOĞLU: "HE CHANGES PARTIES, THE COMPANY'S SHARES RISE ON THE STOCK MARKET"

"I called it the March 19 coup. Unfortunately, first they found three pieces of wood called Oak, Spruce, and Plane. Supposedly these are secret witnesses. They couldn't relate their lies to anything, this time they resorted to slander. They are rounding everyone up, threatening them with their children and families. They say, 'Sign this.' They release the one who signs, and they take the spouse and child of the one who doesn't sign into custody. While fighting a great struggle against such injustices, finally, the true colors of the 'AK Taurus' gang, which has been talked about for 200 days, which we all know, and which challenged us by showing us a white Taurus, were revealed. Yesterday was the founding anniversary of the AK Party, and as you know, the filth flowed from their hems. It reached such a point that they could no longer hide the truth. They fell out with each other. They started to betray each other. They started fighting with each other. But the Minister of Justice, the head of the Council of Judges and Prosecutors, says that what happened is between the lawyer and the client. What is it to us? Oh, man of God, have some mercy, have some conscience. A person comes out and says, 'A lawyer named Yener Toruner, Mehmet Yıldırım came. He said the prosecutor is a close friend of mine. He called the prosecutor from my side. He let me hear his voice. He said, 'We will go, you will give such a statement.' He said, 'If you do it like this, you won't be arrested. If you don't give the statement as I said, you will go inside.' I told the truth. I went inside. He came to me, he wanted a series of slanders, tons of money from me. I said this couldn't be. This time he threatened me with my child. He said, 'You have a young son, they will take him inside too.'"

'If you listen to me, do as I say, and pay enough money, you get out. Otherwise, you rot inside.' Now, we have documented all of this and submitted it to the HSYK (Council of Judges and Prosecutors). Just three weeks ago, we filed complaints against those who tell women, 'Either slander someone or stay inside. Or go and reunite with your child,' and who send those who refuse this to places where 70 people are kept in 50-person wards all over Turkey. Three weeks of petitions, no response. Last week's petition, no response. If that's the case, let's say it. This 'White Toros' gang is doing these things. As if that weren't enough, since you asked, let's say it. We will go there on Monday and say it, but there is a contractor. There have been 380 tenders, 300 of them from the AK Party. They don't touch the AK Party members. 80 are from the CHP. They don't leave a single person outside in the CHP. Yet, is there corruption? Is there theft? There is not a single piece of evidence. But there is slander. The Aydın Metropolitan Municipality is the one that works with this person the most. They told them, 'Here is the file, this big.' We said, 'If you haven't stolen, if you haven't embezzled, if you haven't been involved in these things, don't be afraid. We are behind you like a rock.' Everyone said, 'How can I sleep in a seven-square-meter, ten-square-meter place?' We said, 'You sleep with your honor, just like anyone else who is imprisoned. But you do not bow down to them.' Unfortunately, they told this person, 'Either you join the AK Party or you get thrown in jail. Either join the AK Party or get thrown into Silivri.' And of course, in return for this, unfortunately, one of our female mayors—whom we are most proud of, I have 38 brave, courageous female mayors—was pressured by her husband, her father, and men. Because their companies were in trouble, saying 'If we switch to the AK Party, we can save it,' they acted against the will of Aydın and a company—just think about the country. They change parties, and the company's shares rise on the stock market. Look at the state of the country. Those who know that support will come to the company if it surrenders to the AK Party buy the company's stocks, and the company experiences a historic surge. Let me say this: If we leave that surge, the future support to be given to that company, and the greatest lack of foundation in the history of Turkish politics aside, we are dishonorable. We will take it all back, and we will hold them all accountable.

'Let me say this, and then we will finish a very beautiful part of it together. There are a few issues. It is a matter that emerged yesterday. Another one, this time named Murat Kap. Someone who received awards from the hands of Tayyip Erdoğan, worked extensively during the AK Party era, and had attempted to slander 2-3 times before but was not released because he did not slander as much as they told him to—this time, an AK Party member visits him. Do you know Mücahit Birinci? Mücahit Birinci? The one who hangs out in Tayyip Bey's palace, hangs out in the AK Party, slanders this and that on television in the evenings, drives around in expensive Mercedes and expensive cars, and distributes things in four directions on behalf of the prosecutors—look, you hire a lawyer if you are a complainant, you hire a lawyer if you are facing a crime; in the world, only in Turkey do these 'White Toros' prosecutors hire themselves as lawyers. They send them, they show secret documents. The prosecutor and my relative, they send them, saying, 'Slander as I say, and I will get you out.' This man called Mücahit Birinci goes and says, 'You will say this: I gave money to the CHP congress.' The man says, 'I didn't give any, it's a lie.' 'You will say this: I gave money to Ekrem İmamoğlu.' He says, 'How can I give it, how can I prove it? It's a lie.' He says, 'You will say that they bought the journalists.' He says, 'I can't do that, it's a lie.' On top of this, you will also give 2 million dollars. The prosecutor will release you on Tuesday, a week later. We are filing a complaint about this to the HSYK, but the country's Minister of Justice says, 'What does it have to do with us?'

CHP Kırşehir Provincial Chairman Şeref Baran Genç read the letter İmamoğlu sent to Kırşehir from his cell in Silivri. In the letter read by Genç, İmamoğlu said the following:

'My beautiful Kırşehir, the ancient city of Central Anatolia, my beautiful fellow citizens, dear citizens, esteemed ladies and gentlemen, dear youth, my dear children... Greetings from Silivri to Kırşehir, the beautiful hometown of the late Neşet Ertaş, the bard of the steppe. I embrace you all with longing. Hello. Kırşehir has attained the Republican People's Party's understanding of social municipalism after exactly 39 years. It has met with executive and populist municipalism after exactly 39 years. 'THE SCALES OF JUSTICE HAVE NOT BEEN BALANCED IN THESE LANDS FOR A VERY LONG TIME'

'I address you with the longing for freedom. Even if we are not face to face, I hear the voice of each one of you. I feel the search for justice in your hearts and souls. We all know very well that the scales of justice have not been balanced in these lands for a very long time. We are looking for justice in every area of our lives. Injustice is not only being done to me, to the CHP mayors elected by the national will, and to my fellow travelers. A great injustice is also being done to the worker whose labor is stolen, to the farmer who cannot get the return for their sweat, to the retiree who has spent their life working, to the young person who wants to express their thoughts freely, and to the women who want to take part in business life and walk the streets without fear.'

“INJUSTICE IS RAMPANT ALL OVER OUR BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY”

“The scales of justice in the courts are not weighing equally. There is no justice in the income you earn or the taxes you pay. Not everyone has equal access to quality education and healthcare services. No one, except for a handful of privileged groups, can benefit from the state's resources. Injustice is rampant all over our beautiful country. The pain of injustice is felt in every household of our beautiful country. There is a fire in every area of our lives. Those in power cannot extinguish the forest fires. They cannot extinguish the fire in the kitchen. They cannot extinguish the fire in the justice system. They cannot extinguish the fire in the hearts of the youth, women, retirees, and workers. Those in power cannot extinguish the fire in the nation's heart. We are facing a government that has become a prisoner of a rotten system, one that takes no responsibility and looks for someone to blame for every mistake it makes.”

“WE SET OUT NOT JUST TO GOVERN TURKEY, BUT TO REPAIR, HEAL, AND DEVELOP IT”

“Turkey cannot grow or strengthen like this. Turkey can only achieve abundance, prosperity, and wealth if it becomes a country where justice reigns unconditionally. We set out not just to govern Turkey, but to repair, heal, and develop it. The name of this path is justice. Our cause is this very cause of justice that the nation feels in its heart. Our cause encompasses not just the right to freedom of one individual, but the ability of all citizens of Turkey to lead a fair, equal, free, and dignified life. As soldiers of this righteous cause of justice and freedom, we know that we cannot reach the Turkey of our dreams without saying justice first, freedom first, for everyone and everywhere. That is why we will always say this motto together, with one voice: For everyone, everywhere; justice first, freedom first.”
