Özgür Özel's statement on Rıza Akpolat: 'Detaining him using FETÖ methods...'

As part of a 'tender corruption investigation' launched in Istanbul, detention warrants were issued for 47 people, including Beşiktaş Mayor Rıza Akpolat.

So far, 39 people have been detained as part of the operation. It was reported that Beşiktaş Mayor Akpolat was detained in Balıkesir. 

Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel reacted to the detention of Beşiktaş Mayor Rıza Akpolat.

In a statement on his social media account, Özel said, "The detention of our Beşiktaş Mayor Rıza Akpolat is a new link in the chain of lawlessness within the politicized justice system."

Özel used the following expressions:

 "Detaining our Mayor, who would have come to give a statement if summoned, using FETÖ methods and trying to discredit him is a sign of weakness. We stand by our mayor, and we will fight together with our people to defeat this conspiracy." 

Beşiktaş Belediye Başkanımız Rıza Akpolat’ın gözaltına alınması, siyasallaşan adalet sistemindeki hukuksuzluk zincirinin yeni bir halkasıdır.

Çağrıldığında ifadeye gelecek olan Başkanımızı FETÖ yöntemleriyle gözaltına almak, itibarsızlaştırmaya çalışmak acizliktir.
