Özgür Özel targets Savaş, who filed a lawsuit to cancel the party congress: 'A pawn cannot move on its own'

Former Hatay Metropolitan Mayor Lütfü Savaş had filed a lawsuit to cancel the 38th Ordinary Congress of the CHP, where Özgür Özel was elected chairman, but this request was rejected.

It was later learned that Lütfü Savaş would provide testimony as part of an investigation conducted by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the CHP Congress.

ÖZEL'S 'PAWN' ANALOGY FOR SAVAŞ

Responding to questions from Fevzi Çakır of HaberTürk, Özel made a chess reference regarding Lütfü Savaş, using the example of a 'pawn'.

Stating that Savaş was being directed, Özel said, "A pawn cannot move on its own; those who play chess push the pawn forward, and some people pushed this person forward to tarnish our congress. None of the allegations have any merit, reality, or seriousness," he stated.

Özel also noted that the reason Lütfü Savaş was nominated as a candidate from Hatay in the March 31 local elections was that he was leading in the polls, and that Savaş had showered them with praise at that time.

HE WAS EXPELLED FROM THE PARTY

Following his failure to win in the March 31 elections, Savaş had leveled harsh criticisms at the CHP leadership, stating, "Today's CHP is busy getting 'DEM-ified'." Savaş was subsequently expelled from the party.
