Özgür Özel visits Boğaziçi University in show of support
It has been reported that CHP Chairman Özgür Özel will visit Boğaziçi University today (February 19) to support the academics' ongoing protest vigil.
Özel will visit Boğaziçi University, which was placed under blockade last week during Erdoğan's visit, a time when academics were denied permission to protest and a decision was made to conduct some classes remotely.
In a statement released by the CHP, Özgür Özel's schedule for February 19 was shared.
The schedule indicates that Özgür Özel will visit Boğaziçi University today (Thursday, February 19).
SUPPORT FOR THE ACADEMICS' PROTEST
According to the schedule, Özgür Özel will support the Boğaziçi University academics who have been maintaining their protest vigil for 1,261 days. Özel is expected to be at the Boğaziçi University campus at 12:00 PM.
CAMPUS WAS UNDER BLOCKADE DURING ERDOĞAN'S VISIT
AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan attended the "Boğaziçi University Men's and Women's Dormitories Opening Ceremony" last week.
Erdoğan met with AKP-affiliated youth there. Due to Erdoğan's visit, strict security measures were implemented on campus, and searches were conducted in student dormitories.
Students were informed that some classes would be held remotely.
Two Boğaziçi students were detained due to protests.
