Özgür Özel: We scratched Hulusi Akar like a scratch-off card, and a political Islamist emerged from underneath

Chairman of the Turkish Grand National Assembly National Defense Commission Hulusi Akar, in a speech at a meeting, stated, "What is the purpose of education? Education is not knowledge.

Knowledge is acquired at university, knowledge is acquired in a profession. The purpose of education is; 1- Fear of God, 2- Shame before others," he said.

While Akar's controversial remarks continue to remain on the agenda, Özgür Özel said, "We scratched Hulusi Akar like a scratch-off card. A political Islamist emerged from underneath."

"When you look at Hulusi Akar... You know the scratch-off cards, the scratch-offs. We scratched Hulusi Akar like a scratch-off card. A political Islamist emerged from underneath, nothing else.

From the very first day he took office, from the days he first graduated until the last day, Hulusi Akar has been a political Islamist.

As his friends say, 'Water flows, Hulusi Akar flows.' And in the end, he was the person who would have taken charge if the coup had succeeded, and when it failed, he came to another position again.

This is Turkey's misfortune. I have no other words to say about it. I already said what I had to say to his face in the General Assembly of the Parliament."
