Özgür Özel's first statement on Dursun Çiçek, who announced his candidacy: 'Everyone knows him'

Former CHP Deputy Dursun Çiçek announced that he will be a candidate in the CHP primary. The first statement regarding Çiçek's candidacy came from CHP Chairman Özgür Özel.

Özel stated, "Ultimately, our parliamentary group will decide. If 20 people deem it appropriate for him to be a presidential candidate, then he will compete in the primary."

Announcing his candidacy for the presidential primary for the first time last night on the program 'Farklı Açılar' (Different Perspectives) with Kübra Par on tv100, Çiçek said, "If a primary is being held, there must be at least 2-3 candidates so that members can express their preferences.

A primary with a single candidate would be neither democratic nor ethical.

We have experienced a primary before. We have always defended the primary and we want to contribute to this process. I will be in Ankara tomorrow to submit my application," he had said.

WENT TO PARLIAMENT TO COLLECT SIGNATURES

Meanwhile, Çiçek went to Parliament today to collect the 20 signatures required to become a candidate. Stating that 5 deputies have provided their signatures for now, Çiçek expressed that he would complete the signatures by tomorrow.
