Özgür Özel's pension outburst: 'There is no translation for Turkey's 272 Euro pension in German'

Criticizing the AKP government for setting the lowest pension at 10,000 TL, CHP leader Özgür Özel stated, "I was in Germany and said our retirees receive a 272 Euro pension; they thought it was a translation error and asked, 'Isn't a zero missing?' There is no translation for Turkey's 272 Euro pension in German. Shame on those who condemn our retirees to this misery."

Özgür Özel's pension outburst: 'There is no translation for Turkey's 272 Euro pension in German'

Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel spoke in Denizli, a city his party won on March 31.

Reminding the public of the retirees condemned to a 10,000 TL "misery wage," Özel reacted to the AKP government over pension levels.

Sharing an example of his remarks regarding Turkish pensions while speaking with European leaders, Özel said, "I said our retirees receive a 272 Euro pension; they thought it was a translation error and asked, 'Isn't a zero missing?' There is no translation for Turkey's 272 Euro pension in German. Shame on those who condemn our retirees to this misery."

Stating that they will meet with teachers awaiting appointment in Ankara on April 28, Özel did not provide a date for the major pension rally he had previously announced.

Speaking on the visa issue, Özel said, "We will fight this until the visa problem is solved. Steinmeier promised to address the visa issue; we will solve it."

Expressing that the March 31 elections have drawn a new line, Özgür Özel spoke as follows:

"This line has brought the CHP to stand by the forgotten, to be their voice, and not to be occupied with unnecessary agendas. I said during the election period that we would not deal with things that are not on the citizens' agenda. I will fight for the retirees, farmers, and tradespeople. I will fight for our youth and their future."

"WE WILL MEET WITH TEACHERS AWAITING APPOINTMENT"

"On Sunday, we will be with teachers awaiting appointment in Ulus. We will make the voices of retirees heard with the pension rally we will announce soon. From now on, important duties fall upon all of us to save this country. From now on, let us run wherever we are called, let us take our rights by force. We have set out for a brand new, results-oriented politics that does not shy away from the streets. I will fight for teachers awaiting appointment, victims of internship and apprenticeship regulations, those waiting for retirement tiers, and workers whose labor is exploited and whose union rights are taken away. I will be the voice of the people on every podium I step onto."

"THE DENIZLI ALLIANCE HAS BEEN FORMED"

Emphasizing that the Turkey alliance was formed in Denizli, Özel stated, "The very dear social democrats and CHP members in Denizli, who have been struggling for many years, have formed the Denizli alliance. With nationalist democrats, conservative democrats, Kurdish democrats, and everyone from every view who respects this country's homeland and flag, hand in hand and shoulder to shoulder, the CHP has won 65 percent of Turkey's population, nearly 80 percent of its economy, and 87 percent of taxes paid. We are grateful to the Turkey alliance and the Denizli alliance. We cherish it, and we will continue to cherish it."
