Paid 90 euros in tax for a 29-euro product: National athlete rebels by tagging Mehmet Şimşek
National swimmer Deniz Akbıyık reacted to being charged 90 euros in tax for a product she ordered from abroad that cost 29 euros. Tagging Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek in her social media post, Akbıyık criticized the situation, asking, "What kind of practice is this?"
National swimmer Deniz Akbıyık reacted on her social media account to the high taxes applied to sports equipment she ordered from abroad.
Stating that she paid 29 euros for the product she bought from France and 13 euros for shipping, Akbıyık rebelled against the 90-euro tax added to her order when it arrived in Turkey.
Tagging Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek and Minister of Youth and Sports Aşkın Bak, Akbıyık questioned the logic of the taxation and described the situation as "making fun of people."
Here is that post by Akbıyık:
I ordered sports equipment from abroad to use on the national team from France, 29€ for the product, 13€ for shipping.
