Painful statement regarding the earthquake: "Work continues on unidentified bodies and remains"
In a written statement issued by the Kahramanmaraş Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was recalled that many people lost their lives and were injured in the 7.7 and 7.6 magnitude earthquakes centered in the Pazarcık and Elbistan districts, and that an "Earthquake Investigation Bureau" was established to conduct investigations effectively and rapidly.
The statement, which noted that work is ongoing regarding bodies and remains whose identities could not be determined within the scope of the investigations, provided the following information:
"Identification efforts are continuing regarding 46 body parts that lack bodily integrity.
Furthermore, identification efforts are also continuing for the bodies of 59 of our citizens who are intact but whose identities could not be determined.
Additionally, missing person reports have been filed with our Chief Public Prosecutor's Office for 41 of our citizens.
In this context, search and identification efforts to locate our 41 citizens are ongoing."
