Pakize Akbaba speaks to 12punto: 'I am going to Ankara on November 12, we will set up a Justice Table in front of the 1st TBMM'
Pakize Akbaba, President of the Martyrs' Mothers Association, has reacted to the commission established in the TBMM as part of the second opening process—referred to as a Terror-Free Turkey—conducted with the DEM Party and terrorist leader Abdullah Öcalan. Speaking to 12punto, Akbaba stated that they would set up a 'Justice Table' and said, "The conscience of this nation will not fall for this game."
Pakize Akbaba, President of the Martyrs' Mothers Association, announced that she will go to Ankara on November 12 to protest the opening process and that she will protest the Peace and Brotherhood Commission in the TBMM by setting up a “Justice Table” in front of the first parliament building of the Republic of Turkey. Akbaba stated that veterans and relatives of martyrs will also participate in the action.
“A TABLE OF BETRAYAL HAS BEEN SET UP IN THAT SACRED PARLIAMENT”
Speaking to Ekrem Topuz from 12punto, Pakize Akbaba reacted harshly to the National Solidarity, Brotherhood and Democracy Commission established in the TBMM:
“I am coming to Ankara because a table of betrayal has been set up in that sacred parliament founded by Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. What is it, they say; it's peace, it's freedom, it's the right to hope for Öcalan. For a baby killer, for that monster? The conscience of this nation will not allow this.”
While expressing the joint reaction of martyrs' relatives and veterans, Akbaba also mentioned the declaration titled “We Want Justice” that they will distribute in Ankara. In the declaration, she expressed their reactions to the opening process that has been brought back to the agenda in the TBMM:
“This process, which is carried out by ignoring the sacrifices of those who fight for the existence, unity of the country and the survival of the state, is unacceptable.”
“IF HE HAS THE HEART, I WANT TO MEET ERDOĞAN FACE TO FACE”
Addressing AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan through 12punto, Pakize Akbaba requested a face-to-face meeting:
“I am requesting an appointment. If he has the heart, let him come and answer my questions. We want justice. As mothers of martyrs and veterans, we do not accept this process; the conscience of the nation will not fall for this game.”
“WE WILL SET UP A JUSTICE TABLE, WE WILL APPEAL TO THE CONSCIENCE OF THE NATION”
Stating that they will be in Ankara on November 13, Akbaba shared details regarding the action they will organize in front of the first parliament building of the TBMM:
“I will distribute leaflets there, I will make a speech. I will set up a table; its name will be the Justice Table. Let's see which one will find a response in the conscience of the public — the table of betrayal in the TBMM, or our Justice Table?”
“I WILL VISIT OUR COMMANDER ORKUN”
Stating that she will attend the trial of Orkun Özeller before her visit to Ankara, Pakize Akbaba reacted to the arrest of Commander Özeller and claimed that the arrest took place following the words of MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli:
“They put our Commander Orkun inside with Bahçeli's word. Why? Not just because he opposed Bahçeli; but also because he rejected America's medal. They are taking revenge on my commander. He is an innocent and honorable Turkish officer. The commander must be released immediately; do not keep these innocent people inside!”
“THE DAY WILL COME, THE TIDE WILL TURN”
Stating that the Martyrs' Mothers are not listened to or taken into account by the government, Akbaba emphasized that their search for justice will continue:
“We will not forgive those who made us live through days heavier than the day our children fell on the soil of the homeland. We want those responsible for this to be tried and for true justice to be established.”
In her statement to 12punto, Akbaba expressed that the protest was not just a reaction action, but also a conscientious movement:
“Everyone will be held accountable before true justice. We are waiting; we will not die without seeing that day.”
