Palestinian assassination in Istanbul: Like a movie... They switched three vehicles, set one on fire, and crossed the border on foot

New details have emerged regarding the armed attack on a Palestinian businessman in Istanbul.

On Sunday, August 18, at 10:50 PM, Israeli-Palestinian businessman Anas El Abd Quadir lost his life in an armed attack in Kağıthane, while the Palestinian businessman accompanying him, Fadı M., and his bodyguard, Eray K., were injured.

It was determined that the attackers fled the scene rapidly and left the country shortly thereafter.

In the investigation launched by the Murder Bureau, police identified two individuals who acted in coordination with the attackers.

THEY HID IN A BUNGALOW

It was determined that one of these individuals drove the suspects to the border and then returned. It was discovered that after the incident, the suspects rented a bungalow in Sapanca and hid there.

In a raid on the bungalow in Sapanca, Syrian nationals Layz E., İbrahim A., and Muhammet M. were taken into custody.

With the capture of Pelin Y., who drove the 3 suspects to Sapanca, the number of detainees rose to 4.

As a result of the police investigation, it was determined that suspects Layz E. and Muhammet M. had met with the 3 suspects who fled abroad before the incident and acted together.

THEY ENTERED TURKEY AFTER THE VICTIM ARRIVED IN ISTANBUL

It was determined that the 3 suspects who carried out the attack and fled abroad entered Turkey immediately after the businessman arrived in Istanbul on July 14, 2024.

The suspects, who were found to have planned the murder for days, were seen leaving a house in Şişli as a group of 5 before the incident, and it was determined that they had positioned the cars they would use for their escape in streets without security cameras.

As a result of the investigation, it was learned that the suspects, following the plan they had prepared to evade police pursuit, began switching cars one after another after the incident, and even set one vehicle on fire to leave no evidence behind.

It was revealed that Layz E., who was held in custody at the Public Security Branch, returned to Istanbul after driving the suspects who fled abroad to the border.

THEY ESCAPED BY WALKING ACROSS THE BORDER

It was learned that the suspects, who were followed step-by-step by the Murder Bureau teams, managed to escape by walking across the border 20 minutes before the teams reached the border.

However, the suspects, who could not escape the persistent pursuit of the police, were taken into custody shortly after in an operation carried out in Romania.

It was learned that the necessary correspondence for the extradition of the individuals named G.S., T.S., and Salman A. to Turkey is ongoing.

HIS BROTHER WAS ALSO KILLED IN ISRAEL

As a result of the police investigation, it was determined that the incident was the result of a chain of events that began with the shooting of the car dealership owned by the late businessman Anas El Abd Quadir in Israel.

It was also learned that the brother of Fadı M., who survived the latest attack with injuries, was killed in Israel during that same incident.

It was stated that the exact motive for the attack might be revealed after the suspects held in custody in Romania are brought to Turkey and interrogated.
