Abbas, who held a phone call with Eygi's father, Mehmet Suat Eygi, following her burial in Aydın, expressed his condolences to the family.
Describing Eygi as "a brave daughter of Palestine and Turkey, murdered at the hands of the Israeli occupation" and "an honest symbol of solidarity between the brotherly Turkish and Palestinian peoples," Abbas stated that the "Order of Jerusalem" medal would be awarded in the name of the Turkish activist.
