Parliament Speaker announces: Israel session to be held in Parliament

Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş announced that the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) will convene on Tuesday, October 8, and that the government will brief lawmakers on the threat posed by Israel.

In a statement made during a live broadcast, Kurtulmuş said the following:

"Attempts are being made to put pressure on Turkey through terrorist organizations. We know very well who is who and why they are taking which steps. It is the destabilization of Syria and Iraq. Turkey must be vigilant about this. Turkey is a major country that has managed to remain standing in the region. This is a matter above politics; it is a national issue. Parliament will convene on Tuesday, October 8."

WHAT HAD HAPPENED?

AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had said in a speech at Parliament that "Israel's target is Turkey," and subsequently stated at the TEKNOFEST event he attended: "A plan has been set up in our region that will not be limited to Gaza, the West Bank, and Lebanon. Anyone who knows history, politics, and diplomacy will easily grasp the connection of the issue to Jerusalem. We know very well what the 'promised lands' are. They are practically challenging Turkey from 33 kilometers away. Israel reveals its intentions with every map it shares."
