Parliament Speaker Kurtulmuş recites Kurdish poem: Shared on official TBMM account

The National Solidarity, Fraternity and Democracy Commission, established within the scope of the "new resolution process," and Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş, along with commission members, held visits in Diyarbakır.

The first program for Kurtulmuş and the accompanying delegation was the 2025/2026 Academic Year Opening Ceremony held at Dicle University.

Numan Kurtulmuş, along with some members of the National Solidarity, Fraternity and Democracy Commission, attended the Dicle University 2025–2026 Academic Year Opening Ceremony.

Addressing the importance of the mother tongue in his speech, Kurtulmuş stated, "Language is one of the areas where people express themselves best. It is a reflection of multiculturalism, not division. The mother tongue is as legitimate as mother's milk. No one in this country can be questioned for wanting to use their language. Because language is the place closest to a person's heart. Discrimination based on languages is never written in our dictionary," he said.

Kurtulmuş stated, "The history of Turkey is the history of Kurds just as much as it is the history of Turks. We must all protect this history together and pass it on to future generations. This time, either we will succeed or the imperialists will succeed. We will definitely succeed. And for this, we will continue on our path in unity and solidarity without any hesitation."

Kurtulmuş concluded his speech in Kurdish. The moments when Kurtulmuş recited a Kurdish poem at the ceremony were shared on the official X account of the TBMM (Grand National Assembly of Turkey). He used the Kurdish phrases, "Let us be united, heart to heart, hand in hand; peace is enough for us."
