Participants transported from Turkey for the opening of the 'mini palace' in Cyprus: Alcohol and cigarette brawl broke out on the return

AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan held the opening of the 'mini palace' in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

According to a report by Bugün Kıbrıs, it was learned that a group of approximately one thousand people was brought in from Turkey via private planes due to concerns that participation would remain low for the opening, which was held despite the wishes of Turkish Cypriots.

Those who opposed the 'mini palace' and carried banners reading 'the will is ours' were detained. Security forces made intense efforts to ensure Erdoğan would not see potential protests.

CYPRIOT MEDIA NOT ADMITTED

On the other hand, despite the opening falling on May 3, World Press Freedom Day, the Turkish Cypriot media was not admitted. Cypriot journalists also protested by not attending the reception at the Assembly.

"YOU WILL FIND US AGAINST YOU"

In his opening speech, Erdoğan lashed out with harsh expressions at those who take a stance against headscarves in educational institutions. Erdoğan said, "If you attempt to interfere with our girls' headscarves in Northern Cyprus, you will find us against you."

Touching upon the TEKNOFEST protests in Cyprus, Erdoğan praised the crowd by saying, "You said boycott, what happened? The square is packed." However, it did not go unnoticed that almost all of those filling the area consisted of young people brought from Turkey.

ALCOHOL AND CIGARETTE BRAWL BROKE OUT AT THE AIRPORT

It was noted that the participants, the majority of whom were young, fought during alcohol and cigarette shopping on the return. Arguments occurred at the airport between the crowd transported from Turkey and AKP officials.
