Passenger train hits concrete pump in Muş! There are dead and injured...

According to the information obtained, the accident occurred around 12:20 PM in the Bağlar neighborhood of central Muş.

The Van Gölü Express, which was operating the Tatvan-Elazığ route, struck a concrete pump truck that was allegedly working on the railway line. In the accident, a train engineer named Ali Akgül lost his life at the scene, while 2 other engineers were injured.

Due to the force of the impact, the concrete pump, which was dragged by the train, hit an electric pole located on the side of the tracks.

Following the accident, ambulance, gendarmerie, and police teams were dispatched to the area.

The injured were taken to Muş State Hospital by ambulances after receiving initial intervention at the scene. While damage occurred to both the passenger train and the concrete pump, the railway was closed to traffic for a short time.

An investigation into the accident has been launched.

STATEMENT FROM GOVERNOR ÇAKIR

Muş Governor Avni Çakır went to the scene to conduct inspections.

Governor Çakır stated that the train accident occurred in the Bağlar neighborhood around 12:20 PM, noting that 2 people were injured and 1 person lost their life in the accident.

Governor Çakır said, "The train, which was on the Tatvan-Elazığ regional route, struck the concrete pouring apparatus, known as the boom, of a concrete mixer working for the railways here around 12:00 PM. As a result of the impact, the main body of the train separated from the section where the engineers were located, causing a fatal and injurious accident. Unfortunately, one of the engineers lost his life as a result of this impact. One of them is in critical condition, and the other is in relatively better condition. Their treatment is currently ongoing at Muş State Hospital. A judicial investigation has been launched regarding how the incident occurred and other related matters. I wish a speedy recovery and offer my condolences."
