The Teaching Profession Law Proposal has been accepted and enacted in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM). With the new regulation, three career steps have been introduced: teacher, expert teacher, and head teacher.

It was announced that 10 years of teaching service will be required for expert teacher status. It was stated that the title of head teacher will be granted to those who have served as expert teachers for 10 years. It was also noted that teachers who have completed 20 years of service will become head teachers directly. The previously implemented career steps examination has also been abolished.

According to information in the Türkiye newspaper, the law has opened the path to head teacher status for approximately 230,000 teachers. It was reported that these teachers will be paid an additional salary of up to 10,000 TL.
