Pelin Batu responds to claims: 'There is no such thing'

Historian and television personality Pelin Batu has denied the claim that she was being nominated as the HEDEP candidate for the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB).

Batu stated, "There is no such situation."

Journalist Barış Yarkadaş had claimed that HEDEP would nominate Ahmet Türk as its candidate for the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) mayoral race.

Yarkadaş had also stated that Hüda Kaya, Başak Demirtaş, and Pelin Batu were among the names mentioned for the candidacy within the party.

Pelin Batu issued a statement regarding the claims on her social media account.

Batu included the following remarks:

"There are some 'journalists' claiming that I have been nominated by the HDP," said Batu. "There is no such thing. Just like the claim that I was nominated by the IYI Party in the last elections, this is also a lie. I suppose some people want to see me in politics!"
