People's Alliance Muğla candidate Aydın Ayaydın makes statement on Akbelen: 'I did my duty'
Regarding AKP Chairman and President Erdoğan's cancellation of the expropriation decision in Akbelen, Ayaydın said, "I called the President and conveyed my objective findings. I didn't sleep for 24 hours. When I saw that the decision was cancelled in the Official Gazette, I was very happy on behalf of the people of Muğla. It was a beneficial act; I did my duty."
People's Alliance Muğla Metropolitan Municipality Mayoral Candidate Prof. Dr. Aydın Ayaydın answered Gökhan Taşkın's questions on tv100 Night News.
HE SPOKE AS FOLLOWS REGARDING THE AKBELEN DECISION
With a decree issued by the Presidency three days ago, an expropriation decision was made for 192 parcels located in the villages of İkizköy, Çamköy, and Karacahisar, adjacent to Akbelen, to be merged with the existing lignite coal basin.
As soon as I went to Muğla after this decision was issued, I thought that I should consider environmentally sensitive projects among my own projects and intervene in this.
I immediately jumped into action; the day after the decree, I went and met with the villagers. I met with the citizens and examined the site. I looked at which areas were being covered. Honestly, I was saddened when I saw it. I saw the expropriation of these places and their inclusion in the lignite coal zone as wrong. I received such an impression from the villagers as well.
Upon this, I had to take action. I called the President and conveyed my objective findings. Because I am someone who knows the President well. If you tell the truth to the President, the President thinks objectively. The President said he would evaluate it. The President had rallies the next day. I didn't sleep for 24 hours; I focused on this. I called our President two more times while he was at the rallies.
The President said he was investigating the situation and would evaluate it. When I saw that the decision was cancelled in the Official Gazette, I was very happy on behalf of the people of Muğla. I had a very comfortable sleep that night. I hadn't slept at all the night before. I thought I had done my duty. I just objectively conveyed the events to the President. My initiatives will continue after I am elected Muğla Metropolitan Mayor.

"I WILL START WORKING THE DAY AFTER I RECEIVE THE CERTIFICATE OF ELECTION"
I have been presenting my projects since the day I became a candidate. I am much more of an Atatürkist than those who hide behind the words Atatürk and republic, and I am respectful of the fundamental values of the republic. I would never allow myself to use Atatürk and the republic for politics. I am doing the things that Atatürk said to do. I am fulfilling my duty, I am doing my job. The day after I receive the certificate of election, I will take off my jacket, roll up my sleeves, and start working day and night.
"I HAVE NOT SEEN ANY INTERFERENCE IN LIFESTYLE IN MUĞLA"
I am a person with a secular lifestyle. We go to the sea, we go to places that serve alcohol, and we go to concerts. For 25 years, I have never seen anyone's lifestyle being interfered with in Bodrum or Muğla. It is impossible for such a thing to happen after I am elected. We hold 9 municipalities. Is there any interference with lifestyle in any of them?
