Person who broke their arm while fleeing stray dogs files complaint against municipality

Tuncer Aracı, a 51-year-old resident of the Bornova district in İzmir, stated that he was attacked by a group of stray dogs after leaving his workplace the other evening, and that he lost his balance and fell while trying to escape from them.

Explaining that he was saved from being bitten by the dogs thanks to the intervention of nearby citizens, Aracı stated that he went to the University of Health Sciences İzmir Tepecik Training and Research Hospital due to pain in his right arm, where it was determined that he had a comminuted fracture in his right hand.

Stating that he went to the Işıkkent Police Station after his arm was put in a cast to file a complaint against Bornova Municipality for failing to collect the stray dogs, Aracı said, "If I hadn't run, I would have had bites on my legs, body, and arm. A person I didn't know intervened the moment I fell. That's how I was saved. I fell in the middle of the street; if a fast vehicle had come, I would have been run over."

"I WILL HAVE SURGERY"

Noting that he went to the police station to file a complaint against Bornova Municipality because he was a victim, Aracı said the following:

"I filed a complaint because the municipality does not take care of and collect the dogs. People are being victimized in this way. If the municipality collects the dogs, no one will be victimized. I will have surgery due to the fracture. Will İzmir or Bornova Municipality cover this?"

Aracı's mother, Halime Okuducu, noted that she was also attacked by a dog in 2018, that neutering is not the solution, and that the dogs should be collected.
