Pervin Buldan points to post-holiday period for new draft law: Turkey will enter a new process

Speaking at the event held at the party building, Buldan recalled that they held a 3-hour meeting with Abdullah Öcalan in İmralı on May 24, saying, "I brought you greetings from Öcalan. His health is good, and his belief in the process is intact. He stated that he is making an intense effort for the process to progress."

Buldan stated that one of the most important topics in the meeting was the preparation of a new law, and that Öcalan emphasized a "root law." Expressing that the regulation to be prepared would pave the way for the democratization process, Buldan noted that the draft law is planned to consist of 7-8 articles.

Stating that it is being evaluated that the regulation in question be issued "one-time only," Buldan expressed that members of the organization who will benefit from the law could travel to Turkey or other countries within a certain period of time.

Stating that they will begin intensive political contacts after the holiday, Buldan said they will make initiatives to bring the draft law to the agenda before Parliament closes. Buldan said, "This process is too urgent to be spread over time. The legal framework needs to be established as soon as possible."

Stating that democratization and reform packages will also come to the agenda after the preparation of the draft, Buldan expressed that this is the expectation of prisoners in jails and broad segments of society.

"THE PROCESS WILL SOON TAKE SHAPE"

Drawing attention to developments in the Middle East, Buldan said that what is happening to Kurds and the opposition in the region is "unacceptable." Stating that the legal guarantee of the peace and democratic solution process is everyone's common expectation, Buldan used the expression, "This process will soon take shape."

Buldan also conveyed that Abdullah Öcalan called on the public, democratic mass organizations, and social segments to "take ownership of the process," saying that everyone should take responsibility in this process.

At the end of her speech, Buldan stated that after the law planned to be enacted, a new era could begin not only in Turkey but in the entire Middle East.
