Phone call from İbrahim Kalın to Özgür Özel following claims of a trustee appointment to Ankara Metropolitan Municipality

Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel, regarding rumors that a trustee would be appointed to the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB), stated, "I have heard that someone from the Presidency gave instructions to the MIT, saying, 'Oh sir, investigate some things, involve the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality in these investigations as well.' I expect the honorable MIT President to show sensitivity and inform us about this matter shortly."

While the debate over 'Will a trustee be appointed to ABB?' continues, Sabah columnist Okan Müderrisoğlu, known for his proximity to the government, wrote that National Intelligence Organization (MIT) President İbrahim Kalın called CHP leader Özel to inform him.

In his column titled "Does the MIT monitor municipalities?", Müderrisoğlu noted the following:

"Özel said, '...Instructions were given to the MIT to dig up and investigate issues regarding our Ankara Metropolitan Mayor that happened in the past and were deemed not to require investigation!' Naturally, MIT President İbrahim Kalın not only personally called the CHP Chairman to emphasize that the alleged matter was never the case, but also provided the information that 'There is no such thing in our job description.'"
