Phone scammer caught red-handed while fleeing
A suspect who defrauded people in Eskişehir by posing as a police officer, prosecutor, and judge over the phone was caught in Aksaray while fleeing to Adana.
Halil B. (24), who defrauded many people in the city of Eskişehir by posing as a police officer, judge, and prosecutor and claiming their names were involved in a criminal organization, scammed numerous individuals using the same method.
PLANNED AN ESCAPE TO ADANA
The scammer, who took money and jewelry from his victims, set off on an intercity bus from Eskişehir to Adana after realizing he was about to be caught. Upon the Eskişehir Police Department determining that the individual had fled, the situation was reported to the Aksaray Police Department.
CAUGHT WITH THE STOLEN MONEY
Following this, the Aksaray police took action and located the passenger bus, whose license plate had been identified, at a facility on the Aksaray-Adana Highway. During the search of the bus, the suspect, Halil B., was caught red-handed and taken into custody with 3 gold bracelets, 1 necklace, 3 quarter-gold coins, 4 gold rings, 1 gold wristband, and a sum of cash he had obtained by defrauding people.
The suspect was taken to the Provincial Police Department for questioning, and an investigation into the incident has been launched.
