Photo dispute ended in death: Requested sentence for florist murder suspect announced

In the incident that occurred on October 12 at a florist warehouse in the Altınova neighborhood of Kepez district in Antalya, boxer Kıvanç Şensöz caused the death of florist Eşref Yunus Yıldırıcı by punching him. The incident, which was captured on security cameras, drew widespread outrage across the country.

STARTED WITH A PHOTO DISPUTE

The indictment stated that the incident began when a photo shared on social media by Kıvanç Şensöz's foreign national wife, Dara Şensöz, for flower sales was used on Eşref Yunus Yıldırıcı's account.

It was reported that after the photo was shared, Şensöz threatened Yıldırıcı over the phone, and Yıldırıcı replied that the photo had been shared by his sister, Firdevs Yıldırıcı, and that an apology would be issued.

MEETING ENDED IN DEATH

On October 12, the parties met at the florist warehouse, where the situation suddenly turned violent.

It was noted that Şensöz suddenly punched Yıldırıcı, causing him to fall to the ground, and then kicked him repeatedly. The attack was stopped by the intervention of his uncle, Ali Okur, but Yıldırıcı, who was severely injured, passed away in the hospital due to a brain trauma.

While Şensöz claimed that his wife's photo had been edited with Photoshop to appear low-cut, the prosecutor's investigation determined that this claim was baseless, as the photos showed Dara Şensöz wearing a sweater and a coat. It was also emphasized that the photos were shared publicly.

COMMITTED INTENTIONALLY

The prosecutor stated that the incident was committed intentionally and that the defendant should not benefit from provisions regarding unjust provocation. It was requested that Şensöz be sentenced to 20 to 25 years in prison for the crime of "intentional homicide."

TERRIFYING MOMENTS ON CAMERA

Security camera footage of the incident showed Şensöz suddenly punching Yıldırıcı and kicking him after he fell to the ground. The footage also captured the moment when, during the intervention of his uncle Ali Okur, Şensöz said, "This is what happens if he shares my wife's photos," and replied "No" when asked if he was in his right mind.
