Police Chief threatens workers: Your child will not be able to find a job
145 workers who were fired from the Polonez factory for joining a union are continuing their protest in front of the headquarters building in Ataşehir. Police intervened harshly against the workers who blocked the road to the factory. While some workers were injured or fell ill, it is alleged that the Çatalca District Police Chief threatened the workers.
145 workers who were employed at the Polonez factory in Çatalca and were fired for being members of the Tek Gıda-İş Union are continuing their protest in front of the company's headquarters in Ataşehir.
Police intervened against the workers who were continuing their protest on the road.
During the harsh intervention, some workers were injured and fell ill.
ROAD TO THE FACTORY BLOCKED
The Polonez factory workers, who were fired for being unionized and have been protesting for 53 days, blocked the road leading to the factory this morning.
The workers chanted slogans such as, "This is just the beginning, the struggle continues," "We will resist whether it rains or snows, no matter the weather," and "Resisting, we will march from resistance to victory." Security forces, who warned them to open the road, intervened against the group of male and female workers while negotiations were still ongoing.
Reminding that according to the Labor Law, a workplace that carries out mass layoffs cannot hire new workers, the workers called on the company to comply with the law and chanted, "We will resist whether it rains or snows, no matter the weather."
'EVEN IF YOUR CHILD IS BRILLIANT, THEY WON'T BE ABLE TO GET A JOB' THREAT
The workers, who were beaten by the police, were also threatened by the Çatalca District Police Chief.
The workers protesting in front of the factory were first threatened by the Çatalca District Police Chief, and then the police intervened by beating them.
Tekgıda-İş Organizing Specialist Suat Karlıkaya shared the moments on his X account when the district police chief told the workers, "If I take you into custody and initiate legal proceedings, even if your child is brilliant, they won't be able to get a job," and said, "Go make this threat to the boss."
Listen well to the Çatalca District Police Chief, friends. He is threatening the worker by saying, 'If I take you into custody and initiate legal proceedings, even if your child is brilliant, they won't be able to get a job.' Go make this threat to the boss; tell them this worker is right and you cannot produce here if you do not take the worker back. pic.twitter.com/yYRAelTXoG
