A new development has occurred in the Bora Kaplan case.

It has been learned that police chiefs Murat Çelik, Şevket Demircan, and Kerem Gökay Öner—who were suspended and subsequently arrested on charges of negligence regarding the escape of secret witness Serdar Sertçelik, and who returned to duty in recent days after 4 months of detention—have been summoned by the Prosecutor's Office for questioning.

It is alleged that the reason for taking the statements of the chiefs is related to the fugitive "FETÖ member" Cevheri Güven.

THEY WERE RELEASED

Ankara Deputy Police Chief Murat Çelik, Organized Crime Branch Chief Kerem Gökay Öner, and Branch Deputy Chief Şevket Demircan, who were questioned by the prosecutor at the Ankara Courthouse, were released following their statements.

HE HAD CALLED THEM 'COUP PLOTTERS'

MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli had characterized the events at the Ankara Police Department as a "coup attempt against the government." Bahçeli had used the term "coup plotters" for the police officers involved in the incident.

After being briefed by Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya, Bahçeli had abandoned the coup allegation.
